Modern Lighting Scheme & Audio Visual Project

Our client approached us to design a modern lighting scheme and install an audio-visual system for a new kitchen extension and family entertainment room in Hampshire. Havi are based in Lymington and work throughout Hampshire & Dorset.

New Kitchen Lighting

The new kitchen centres around a stunning central island. Our task was to provide adequate functional light with the addition of accent lighting for key focal points. The suspended bulkhead (designed by ourselves to contain the in-ceiling extractor) mirrors the exact shape and size of the island and utilises hi-performance LED tape which up-lights the ceiling, providing more than enough soft in-direct ambient light.

We specified glare-free rectangular LED downlights (to reflect the island linearity) to provide the high level of task lighting required on the work surface. Smaller matching downlights are used throughout to accent light the furniture.

LED Tape Lighting

LED tape lighting was utilised to light an old fireplace. We also used it at low level around the island plinths to give a “floating” effect. A slate feature wall was up-lit with in-ground LED up lighters and the wall hung glass cabinets were lit with miniature adjustable LED downlights internally. Additional LED AR111 spotlights were used to provide flexible lighting in the dining area. The lights are controlled via numerous circuits and are all fully dimmable, providing the client with maximum flexibility.

Family Entertainment AV system

The AV system is a simple setup, but the key was to keep it as clutter-free as possible. The scheme consisted of two new TV locations, with the media room also having an in-ceiling surround sound speaker system. Our client already owned numerous entertainment sources which they wanted connecting to both TV’s but didn’t want the equipment on show.

We designed and installed a scheme whereby all the sources and equipment were stored remotely in racks, but could be viewed and operated at each TV location by a simple remote. In addition, to support the new and existing equipment, we provided a new CAT6 network infrastructure complementing it with a robust and reliable managed WiFi system. Our WiFi system utilises both internal and external access points, to cover the whole plot (around 1/2 an acre).
